If you are pregnant or have recently become a parent, here is information about local services who can provide support.

If you have recently found out that you are expecting a baby, congratulations. Use the links below to register for maternity care in Warwickshire. Your first appointment with a midwife takes place between 8-12 weeks pregnant.

Your midwife, health visitor and GP are a good first port of call for support during pregnancy and after birth.

North Warwickshire, Nuneaton and Bedworth

Early infant support service offers support to breastfeeding mums on discharge from the hospital up until their baby is eight weeks old. Contact the Breastfeeding Support Service for further information on 01926 626529.

Supporting your mental health

Healthy Mind Service is available to offer 1:1 telephone appointments for both dads and mums during pregnancy and after, to support with anxiety, low mood, and other difficulties that could be affecting your wellbeing. Priority is given for those who are pregnant or have given birth within a year.

By your side  Offer flexible support to suit you with no referral criteria. You don't need to already be receiving support from services or even have a diagnosis.

If you feel you would benefit from one to one peer support then you can be referred by your GP, midwife, health visitor, other healthcare professional or social prescriber for this service. This would enable you to be matched with a trained peer supporter who lives locally and has had a similar experience to you. They can provide support to you by text message, email, phone or in person to suit you.

If you feel you would benefit from meeting other parents who are experiencing mental health difficulties to some degree then pop along to our stay and play in Warwick on a Monday

 

Parents in Mind is a commissioned service, run in the Coventry & Warwickshire area which is free to access. Supporting women/birthing people who are experiencing mild-moderate mental health difficulties during the perinatal period, including those who are feeling isolated or lonely. The service exists for individuals during pregnancy and up until 2 years postnatally. The service is referral-based: referrals can come from a professional or individuals can self-refer.

Peer support is available in a number of different formats, with both in-person and remote support options (including specialist groups); 1:1 and group support. In-person groups currently run weekly in Stratford-upon-Avon, Leamington Spa, Rugby, Coventry & Nuneaton.

Dad Matters is an ambition to change the way dads are thought of by all services involved in the perinatal period and beyond. Dad Matters Warwickshire exists to see all dads in the county, particularly those who might fall through the gaps, happy and content in being a dad.
