Meet our volunteers
Our volunteers play an important role in helping us to make a difference to your local health and social care services. Put simply, we couldn’t do what we do without them.
Healthwatch Warwickshire welcomes volunteers. We recognise the fantastic contribution volunteers make in helping us in our mission. Healthwatch Warwickshire seeks to involve volunteers to ensure our services meet the needs of the people of Warwickshire and increase our contact with the local community we serve. As a volunteer you can become part of:
-
A reading panel who give a laypersons view on local strategies and information we produce for projects. Our volunteers have contributed feedback to the Coventry and Warwickshire Palliative and End of Life Care Strategy and the Carers Strategy.
- Enter and View. Our trained volunteer Authorised Representatives visit services that provide health and social care to get feedback from the people using the services. This includes care homes.
- Events. Our volunteers help us run stalls at events, which involves talking to people and listening to their experiences.
- The Board, acting as ambassadors and overseeing the work of the organisation.
What have our volunteers been doing?
Our Mystery Shopping Group visited 34 GP websites across Warwickshire North and Rugby. We wanted to see what type of experience patients might have when trying to find information online.
During lockdown our volunteers called Care Home Managers to find our how they were helping residents stay in touch with people and whether they wanted us to raise any issues on their behalf.
Our Authorised Representatives have been visiting care homes, to talk to the people that live there. Read our latest Enter and View Reports here.
I have been a Volunteer with Healthwatch for four years now and really enjoy our care home visits. Healthwatch is very supportive of its volunteers and the training is very good.
