View the latest plans for Brooklands Hospital
Brooklands Hospital in Marston Green is a service in Solihull that is also accessed by patients in the Coventry and Warwickshire areas.
Patients and the public were invited in January to view the plans for the new facilities at two drop events at Brooklands Hospital, in the Brian Oliver building, where they were able to speak to staff and ask questions about the latest plan.
What are the plans?
The plans involve creating a new low secure unit dedicated for patients with autism only and a new recovery and integration facility for patients with a learning disability and/ or autism.
Work on the new unit started in January 2020, and is to be carried out over three phases, with the two units set to fully open in winter 2021. Patients will benefit from a self-contained apartment which includes a lounge area, bedroom and en-suite, with access to their own outside area. There will also be a day space area, kitchen, laundry, reception/ waiting room, therapy and multi-faith room.
The plans form part of the Trust’s transformation programme, which aims to improve health and care for people with a learning disability, autism or both, enable more patients to access services that are closer to home and, with the right support, live within the community.
