Patient Portal – MyCare in Warwickshire
Healthwatch Warwickshire is an independent service for everyone who uses health and social care services in Warwickshire. We’re here to make sure that the views of patients are taken into account, and that those running services put people at the heart of care.
We were pleased to work in partnership with South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) to carry out the public engagement for this project. SWFT asked us to find out what people would think about a 'digital patient portal'. We asked over 400 people what they might find useful, and what might prevent them from using an online way to manage and interact with healthcare services such as hospital-based services.
Overall, people were in favour of a patient portal. People said they might use a portal to book appointments, view results or manage car parking, while potential areas of concern were issues of security and ease of use.
The results from this independent engagement were fed back to SWFT in our report which you can download here:
The Patient Portal
As part of a phased rollout, South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust is now launching their patient portal, called MyCare in Warwickshire.
From late February 2021, if you are scheduled a new appointment, SWFT will send you a text message inviting you to join the portal.
The first four specialties that will have information for you to see on the portal are:
- Gynaecology
- Dermatology
- Gastroenterology
- Rheumatology
Do I have a choice about joining the portal?
Yes! Joining MyCare in Warwickshire is optional, and it will not affect your care if you choose not to sign up.
