Leamington and Warwick Dental Engagement

National data from NHS England Midlands revealed a high level of dental decay in children living in areas of Warwick District. During May and June 2024 we conducted engagement and outreach to explore and understand in greater detail people’s experience of dentists and dental care for their children.

We received 158 responses to our survey, from individuals who told us about the experience of 259 children. 

Our report has been shared with NHS England Midlands and the commissioners of dental services. This will support the development of local dental services and oral health promotion activities.

Darzi review of the NHS

In July 2024, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care commissioned Lord Darzi to conduct an immediate and independent investigation of the NHS. The review was published on Thursday 12 September.

Lord Darzi wrote a letter to the Secretary of Sate to accompany his review. The letter includes a summary of Lord Darzi's 28 findings and reported "Nothing that I have found draws into question the principles of a health service that is taxpayer funded, free at the point of use, and based on need not ability to pay".
