On 18 October 2023, we held a Health and Social Care Forum on the ‘State of Care in Rugby’ at Benn Hall, Rugby. There were 120 attendees who provided over 150 comments.

From January 2024, Healthwatch Warwickshire asked ex-armed forces veterans across North Warwickshire, Nuneaton and Bedworth to tell us about experiences of visiting GPs and other health care professionals, and about taking care of their health.
We are working with the WCC Armed Forces Covenant Officer and other partners to understand and improve access to primary care, including to physical health checks, for people who have previously served in the UK Armed Forces.

Anyone aged 13 years or older who is registered with an NHS GP surgery in England, can use the NHS App. To be able to use the NHS App you will need an NHS login. -

The NHS Prescription Ordering Direct service, a way to order repeat prescriptions by telephone, will be closing at the end of March 2024.
If you have used POD, your GP surgery should contact you to tell you how this change will affect you.

National data from NHS England Midlands revealed a high level of dental decay in children living in areas of Warwick District. During May and June 2024 we conducted engagement and outreach to explore and understand in greater detail people’s experience of dentists and dental care for their children. -

Deliver a public health campaign on advance care planning

Introduce a duty of openness and transparency in end-of-life conversations to enable properly informed consent around treatment decisions
Develop mandatory training for healthcare professionals on end-of-life decision making under mental capacity legislation
Develop mandatory training for healthcare professionals to recognise when a person is approaching the end of their life and to support a transition to comfort care
